What Does the Bible Mean About Becoming Part of the New Humanity?

Updated: Nov 21

As the Son of God died and rose again, he set in motion a profound shift in all of creation. The death and resurrection of Jesus not only signaled the dawn of the New Covenant but unveiled the reality of the New Humanity.

Through Jesus' atoning sacrifice, he opened the way to an entirely new realm of existence on earth—a reality that echoes the harmony and divine intention present in the Garden of Eden before humanity's fall.

Writing to the fledgling community of believers in Ephesus, the Apostle Paul illustrated this monumental shift. He described a new way of life rooted in unity and peace:

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in His flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in Himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace” (Ephesians 2:14-15).

This “new humanity,” established through Messiah, is made up of individuals from every nation, ethnicity, and culture. Those who were once estranged are being brought near—reconciled, and restored to their true calling as the sons and daughters of God. By the gracious work of the Holy Spirit, countless souls are being drawn back to their Heavenly Father, clothed in his righteousness and crowned with his glory.

In another heartfelt letter, Paul underscored that this new humanity is not merely a theology to admire but an identity to embody. He urged believers to actively embrace it, as one would put on a garment:

“Put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all” (Colossians 3:10-11).

God’s invitation to us is clear: step into this new identity that transcends cultural and social distinctions. In this time of upheaval and uncertainty, he is shaping you and many others into a new kind of person—one that reflects his image and embodies his marvelous peace.

It's time to walk boldly in this new earthly order, fully embracing the transformative identity offered through Christ. Step into your destiny, for you are part of the new humanity—a beacon of hope and unity in a fractured world.
